Progress!

Dear Friends and Family,

A couple of months have passed since the last formal update, and so it is time again to get everyone caught up on the support-raising adventure. Thanks to those of you who requested more frequent updates. We wanted to be sensitive and not over-do it! Here is our update:

  • Getting close – We are currently about 70% supported! We got a little bit of a late start on our full-time fundraising due to busy schedules, so our initial September start-date has obviously come and gone. Things are progressing, though, and we will hopefully be at Camp before the end of the year.

  • Fundraising is fun?? – Our meetings with family and friends have provided rare fellowship and a chance to get to know some of you in a totally different way. Thanks!

  • No apartment, no full-time jobs!—We have stepped out of our apartment and full time job commitments as we reach the final stretch. Thanks to those who have offered housing during this time.

  • A taste of our future – I (Dan) had the opportunity to speak on a high school trip this summer and Laura helped as well. Though we only got to serve for a week, I was reminded of God’s hand in this ministry and the special way He uses his creation to bring kids to believe. Some powerful testimonies from high school students!

  • Still need financial partners – We have about 30% of our monthly support yet to go. We will not be able to join the staff until we are completely supported. Please pray for faithfulness and integrity as we try to complete this work in a way that honors the Lord.
We hope this gets you all up to speed. If you have any questions about what is going on, or would like us to come see you for an informal chat about our ministry, send us an email. I will even grill you some supper (my wife says I’m good at it).

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hello again, Friends!

We are enjoying a rare day off from work and decided to put together an update letter since so many of you have been asking about our progress in our monthly support raising.

Since our last letter we have been doing our best to check in with many who have expressed interest in partnering with us financially. Unfortunately, my job as supervisor of a group home has been overwhelming since the beginning of the year, and many long, unpredictable work weeks have prevented much of the traveling we had hoped to accomplish by this point.

Despite this setback, God has shown himself faithful and has really proved that He is in control. Many of you have been eager to begin giving and have jumped on board already. At this point we have received commitments for about 50% of our goal!

I will be speaking on one Camp trip this summer, but our hope is to start full-time at camp by September 1st. We will try to keep you updated as we near that date and finish up with preparations. If you have questions, we’d love to chat with you about our vision for this particular ministry, which we eagerly anticipate being a part of!

Much love to you all,

Dan & Laura Jacobson

*We have included you on our mailing list because you are our family, friends, or because you have been referred to us as possibly interested in our updates. If you prefer not to receive updates, please contact us.

As we start Spring....

Dear Friends and Family,

We’ve been having a full, but encouraging winter as we begin our journey toward Camp Forest Springs, and tie up the loose ends here in Eau Claire. Some of you have asked, so we wanted to take a little time to share where we are in the process. Because CFS is maintained and operated by a group of missionaries (in order to keep costs lower for campers), we must raise financial support to join the staff. We have just begun that process, but God has already provided about 25% of our goal. We are so encouraged…

In the meantime, I continue to work full-time managing a group home here in Eau Claire, and Laura just cut back to part time with the same organization. As of the beginning of March, we are relieved to have the sale of my agricultural business behind us. We are thankful for how smoothly that transition went. No looking back now!

We hope to be at Camp sometime this summer or in the fall before the busy winter season. We’ll keep you posted. We appreciate the notes of encouragement and prayers many of you have sent our way. Thank you! Take care.

Love,

Dan & Laura

Happy New Year, Friends!

A Great Year!

Laura and I decided it was time to send out our first-ever update letter, and what better time to do it than around Christmas when everyone is getting caught up with each other’s lives. We hope this finds all of you well—enjoying this time together with family and friends.

Even working multiple jobs, Laura and I have had a very good year, enjoying being married to each other and the company of friends and family. We are blessed to have some very close by. In this time of uncertainty for many, we have much to be thankful for.

Study/discussion time at Lake Superior on college trip

2009. I was asked to teach from Proverbs 3.

A Step of Faith

That being said, we are looking forward to some major changes. Laura and I met at Camp Forest Springs, a year-round Christian camp in northern Wisconsin. After sixteen years of off-and-on involvement with CFS, we have been offered a permanent position there. My position will involve using week-long wilderness trips to teach Biblical principles to kids, and leadership principles to college-age trip leaders.

This decision was not made lightly. Our future with this organization has been on our minds for years. It is a great honor to be asked to accept this position with a ministry that has been used to change so many lives, and has been so influential for us, our families, and so many of our friends.

Big Changes!

This is obviously a major change for us. We are grateful, excited and a bit nervous. It will be about a 1-year process to join staff, so we’ll keep you posted as things change for us. We look at this season in our lives with excitement and hope, and are refreshed by the stability and real rest that God gives us, even during times of uncertainty. We pray the same encouragement for you.

Much Love,

Dan and Laura
